This is the first painting done of the second set of Merritt Parkway paintings, so I was indeed, "On the Road Again." Willy Nelson is in my vocabulary here. Cars are peeking out at us as well as going in the other direction. While this may be about many things, it's also about continuity, perseverance, connectivity and our path.

This little Ridgefield water trough was designed to water horses and there is a little lower area for dogs to quench their thirst, too. It was presented to the town by Life Magazine founder John Ames Mitchell who lived on West Lane. Originally placed on the corner of Main and Catooah Streets, once automobiles made the scene, it was moved to its current location at West and Olmstead Lanes.
