The Merritt Parkway Series
I have been working on this series for over a year. 2010 will be the 70th anniversary of the completion of the Merritt. It is a Connecticut historic landmark and just recently became one of ninety-three World Monuments and is on "World Monument Watch", which is a protective world alert.

The Merritt has an old world feel and charm that few roads possess. I have traveled it my entire life and recently began to thoroughly enjoy its bridges, pines, scenery and small-town feel. Driving takes you so quickly away from your current view and I wanted to capture some of the physical elements on the Merritt as well as the feelings, moods, and sensations we all experience while motoring. Each painting was created to have the purpose to evoke, cause reflection and/or relate to all who travel the roads while thinking quiet thoughts, taking in a beautiful sky or landscape and making their way to each destination.
